Why is my camera not recording at night when it works fine during the day?
If your camera records normally during the day but not at night, this is usually caused by certain settings or configuration issues. Try the following solutions:
1. Check Sleep Schedule Settings (Most Common Cause)
Sleep schedules can disable motion detection during specific hours.
To check:
- Tap the "Camera Settings icon."
- Go to "Motion Detection."
- Look for "Schedule Sleep Settings."
- Disable any active sleep schedule, especially if it covers nighttime hours (e.g., 7 PM–11 PM).
2. Check Network Settings
A weak or inactive WiFi at night can prevent the camera from recording:
- Ensure the camera is connected to WiFi at all times.
- Check your router or network schedule to confirm WiFi is active during nighttime hours.
- If possible, test the connection at night by observing the camera status in the app.
3. Adjust Motion Detection Sensitivity
Increase motion detection sensitivity at night for better performance:
- Go to "Camera Settings" → "Motion Detection" → "Detection Sensitivity."
- Set sensitivity to High for better nighttime motion detection.
4. Check CoolDown Time Settings
CoolDown Time may cause missed events at night.
- Go to "Camera Settings" → "Motion Detection."
- Consider disabling "CoolDown Time" if you need to capture every event.
Note: Disabling CoolDown Time is a paid feature and may reduce battery life.
5. Perform Basic Troubleshooting
If the issue continues:
- Reboot the camera and reconnect it.
- Ensure the battery level is sufficient (blue indicator light on).
- Confirm the camera has a strong WiFi connection.
- Test nighttime detection by walking in front of the camera after dark.
6. Consider SD Card Backup
Using a MicroSD card can ensure local recording.
- Supports up to 128GB, FAT32 format.
- Avoid no-brand, fake, expanded, or read-only SD cards.
- Supports most branded SD cards (e.g., SanDisk).
