There are several common reasons your SD card may not record properly, along with solutions:
1. Check SD Card Compatibility
Your camera only supports certain SD card types:
- Capacity: 8GB - 128GB (cards over 128GB will not work)
- Format: FAT32
- Brand: Legitimate brands like SanDisk, Samsung, Kingston
- Avoid: No-brand, fake, expanded, or read-only cards
2. Verify SD Card Detection
- Go to "Camera Settings" → "SD Card Management."
- If it shows "SD card not detected" or "wrong format", the card needs formatting.
- Properly inserted SD cards should trigger the "SD card detected" message.
3. Format the SD Card Properly
If the camera prompts "Please use the app to format your SD card first":
- Open the Vico Nature app → "Camera Settings" → "SD Card Management" → "Format SD Card."
- If app formatting fails, format the card to FAT32 on a computer first, then try formatting again in the app.
⚠️ Note: Formatting erases all data on the card.
4. Check Recording Settings
Ensure your camera is configured correctly:
- With a compatible SD card, the camera automatically creates video backups when motion is detected.
- Go to "Camera Settings" → "Motion Detection" → "Detection Sensitivity" and set to "High."
- Disable "Sleep" or "Schedule Sleep" if enabled.
5. Try Basic Troubleshooting Steps
- Remove and reinsert the SD card carefully.
- Restart the camera and reconnect it.
- Test motion detection by waving your hand in front of the camera.
- Ensure the camera has sufficient battery power.
- Verify a strong WiFi connection (Strong shown in app).
6. Test with a Different SD Card
If problems persist, try a different card that meets the compatibility requirements.
7. Check for Recording vs. Playback Issues
- Access SD card videos via "Library" → "SD Card" → select camera and "Confirm."
- Pull down the video list in the app to refresh.
- If you see any error messages during video playback, provide a screenshot and your camera serial number when contacting support for assistance.
