If your camera fails to connect after scanning the QR code in the app, it may be caused by one of the following reasons. Please review each possible cause and follow the recommended steps.
Camera is not in scanning mode
-
- Battery camera: Press and hold the power button to turn it on. Then, double-press the power button to enter scanning mode. You will hear a repeated chime sound once it’s ready.
-
Plug-in camera: Unplug and reconnect the power cable to ensure a proper connection. If scanning still does not start:
- Locate the reset button on top of the camera and press it for 3 seconds, or
- On some models, insert the included pin (or a similar pointed object) into the reboot hole for 3 seconds.
Poor lighting
Scanning may fail in dim or uneven lighting.
-
- Ensure the environment is well-lit.
- If necessary, turn on additional lights or move to a brighter area.
- Hold the camera steady and avoid sudden movements during scanning.
Dirty or damaged camera lens
A dirty or damaged lens can prevent the camera from reading the QR code clearly.
-
- Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to gently clean the lens.
- Avoid touching the lens with your fingers.
Incorrect orientation or distance
If the QR code is not properly aligned with the camera, or if the distance is not suitable, scanning may fail.
- Hold the camera directly in front of the QR code.
- Slowly move the camera back and forth until it focuses.
- The recommended distance is 6-12 inches (15-30 cm).
- Avoid scanning against strong backlight.
Additional tips
-
- Increase your phone screen brightness for a clearer QR code display.
- Regenerate the QR code in the app if the previous one has expired.
- Ensure the internet connection is strong and stable during setup.
