Interrupting a firmware update—especially due to power loss—can affect your camera. Whether your camera is battery-powered or plug-in makes a big difference.
What Could Happen?
Battery Cameras
- If the battery camera loses power during an update (for example, low battery or auto shutdown):
- The camera may enter recovery mode
- You may see a blinking blue light
- It may appear frozen or offline in the app
- These cameras often have protection to allow recovery after failed updates.
Plug-in Cameras
- If a plug-in camera is unplugged or loses power during an update:
- The camera may crash or become unresponsive
- It may fail to boot up and show no lights or sounds
- In many cases, it will not recover on its own
Unplugging a plug-in camera during an update can cause serious damage. Always keep it powered during the entire process.
How to Recover the Camera
Try Standard Reset
- Make sure the camera is powered (charged or plugged in)
- Press and hold the reset button for 3 seconds using a pin
- Double-click the power button (if available)
- Listen for a "Ding Dong" sound
- Re-add the device in the app
If it reconnects, the update should resume or complete automatically.
Still Not Working?
- For severe cases (especially plug-in models), contact support
- Manual firmware recovery may be needed using an SD card and a computer
How to Avoid Update Failures
Before starting an update:
- Battery cameras: Charge to at least 50% or keep plugged in
- Plug-in cameras: Use a stable outlet—don't unplug for any reason
- Ensure strong Wi-Fi and stay near the router
- Keep the app open and avoid switching screens
- Don't press buttons or power off the device
