If you're using a rechargeable camera, such as an outdoor model, 4G camera, bird feeder camera, or PTZ outdoor camera, you may be wondering whether it's safe to keep it plugged in continuously. Here's what you need to know.
Is it safe to leave my camera continuously connected to power?
Yes, it is.
These rechargeable cameras are equipped with built-in overcharge protection, allowing them to stay safely connected to power for extended periods without damaging the battery or the device.
To maintain stable performance, we recommend using a certified 5V/1.5A power adapter. Continuous charging is supported, though it’s normal for rechargeable batteries to experience gradual capacity loss over time. This is expected and does not affect regular usage.
For cameras installed in hard-to-access areas, leaving them plugged in can be a practical solution to avoid frequent recharging.
Will the camera behave differently when it’s always plugged in?
No. The camera continues to function as usual—motion detection, event recording, and live view will all remain available when connected to power.
However, battery cameras do not support 24/7 continuous recording, even while plugged in. These cameras are designed to record only when motion is detected.
