How can I receive notifications only when birds are detected, not from wind, trees, or other motion?
The bird AI is only available for the bird feeder users. Unfortunately, the camera cannot be set to record exclusively for birds, as it uses PIR (Passive Infrared) sensors that detect any environmental changes, including moving objects, light changes, and temperature variations. However, you can minimize false notifications through these steps:
- Enable Bird Fans: Subscribe to the Awareness service to get bird identification notifications. Go to Camera Settings → Notification Settings → Bird Fans.
- Adjust Motion Sensitivity: Set motion detection sensitivity to "Low" to reduce the detection range and minimize false triggers from distant objects. Go to Camera Settings → Motion Detection → Detection Sensitivity.
- Use Activity Zones (paid feature): Create activity zones to only receive notifications from specific areas near your feeder, filtering out background movement.
- Adjust Cooldown Time: Increase the cooldown time interval between motion detections to reduce notification frequency.
- Optimize Camera Position: Reposition the camera to avoid areas with moving trees, branches, or other environmental triggers.
Can I filter notifications to only receive alerts for specific bird species?
Currently, the app does not support filtering notifications for specific bird species. You can view identified bird videos in the Library by:
- Tapping the "filter" icon on the left corner of the library page
- Finding "bird" on the "video tag" to filter the bird video
Why am I not receiving bird notifications even though I have the Bird Fans?
If you're not receiving bird notifications despite having a subscription, check these settings:
- Verify Subscription Status: Ensure your subscription is active in Camera Settings → Cloud Service.
- Enable Notifications: Go to Camera Settings → Notification Settings and make sure bird notifications are enabled.
- Check Phone Settings: Verify that your phone allows notifications from the Vico Nature app in your device's notification settings.
- Restart and Update: Try restarting the camera and updating the app to the latest version.
If birds are being recorded but not identified, submit feedback through the app (Library → tap recording → Send Feedback) to help improve the AI recognition algorithm. Kindly let us know once you have submitted the videos.
