You can manage how your cameras behave by switching between three modes — Home, Away, and Disarmed. Each mode adjusts motion detection, notifications, and alarms based on whether someone is home.
Before you begin
Eligibility requirements
- You need an active Awareness Subscription applied to at least one indoor or outdoor security camera.
Limitations
- Modes aren’t available for shared devices.
- If you select All devices or Shared devices on the Home screen, the Modes option won’t appear.
Home Mode
Use "Home Mode" when someone is at the location. Your cameras will monitor quietly while keeping motion alerts active.
Default settings:
- Motion detection: On
- Push notifications: On
- Audible alarm: Off
- Flashlight alarm: Off (available on supported cameras)
When to use: Ideal for when you’re home and want notifications without loud alarms — for example, during the day or at night.
Away Mode
Use "Away Mode" when no one is home and you want full protection. All cameras are armed, and any detected motion or human presence triggers an alert and alarm.
Default settings:
- Motion detection: On
- Push notifications: On
- Audible alarm: On
- Flashlight alarm: On (available on supported cameras)
When to use: When leaving home for work or travel and you want your system to monitor everything automatically.
Disarmed Mode
Use "Disarmed Mode" when you want your cameras to record but stay silent. Notifications and alarms are turned off for a quiet monitoring experience.
Default settings:
- Motion detection: On
- Push notifications: Off
- Audible alarm: Off
- Flashlight alarm: Off
When to use: When you’re home and don’t want to receive alerts — for example, hosting guests or cleaning.
Adjust modes in the app
You can change how each camera behaves under every mode:
- Go to the "User" tab and tap "Mode Settings", or

On the "Home" screen:
- Tap the mode icon to switch between modes.
- Tap the three dots (…) inside the mode icon to adjust the settings for the devices that are currently online under this mode, including selecting which functions take effect.
If you have an Awareness Subscription, all supported cameras under the selected Home will follow your chosen mode settings automatically.
