Most of our cameras connect only to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi for stable coverage and reliable performance. A few models, such as plug-in cameras and light bulb cameras, also support 5GHz Wi-Fi. Battery-powered 4G cameras do not connect to Wi-Fi, and enterprise Wi-Fi networks that require certificates are not supported.
Why 2.4GHz Wi-Fi?
2.4GHz Wi-Fi provides a longer range and better wall penetration than 5GHz Wi-Fi. While 5GHz Wi-Fi can deliver faster speeds, its coverage is more limited. For reliable performance across typical home environments, the camera is designed to use 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
Enterprise Wi-Fi
Enterprise or institution-grade Wi-Fi networks require certificate-based authentication. Since the camera cannot process these certificates, it cannot connect to such networks. Please use a standard home Wi-Fi network.
Configuration Tips
- If your router only provides 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, the camera connects directly.
- If your router provides both 2.4GHz and 5GHz and Smart Connect (or a similar feature) is enabled, the camera will automatically connect to the 2.4GHz band.
- If Smart Connect is disabled, please make sure to select the 2.4GHz network name (SSID) when connecting the camera.
- If your router only supports 5GHz Wi-Fi, you will need a router that also offers 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
Other Notes
- Ensure that your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal is strong. If the camera is too far from the router, the connection may fail.
- If too many devices are connected to the same router, IP address conflicts may occur and prevent the camera from connecting.
