Most smart cameras work only with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Knowing how to identify your Wi-Fi frequency helps ensure a smooth setup. You can check which band your Wi-Fi is using with the methods below.
Method 1: Check the Wi-Fi Name
In most cases, Wi-Fi networks that include "5G" in their name are 5GHz networks. Networks without "5G" are typically 2.4GHz.
Method 2: Check Network Details on Your Phone
- iPhone: The Wi-Fi details screen does not display the frequency. To confirm the band, use your router’s admin page or contact your Internet service provider.
- Android: Go to Settings > Wi-Fi, tap the connected Wi-Fi name (or the info icon next to it), and check the frequency.
Method 3: Use the Router’s Admin Page
You can also confirm the Wi-Fi band by signing in to your router:
- Enter the router’s admin address in your browser. This address is usually printed on the router.
- Sign in using the administrator password.
- Open the Wireless Settings section to check the available frequency bands.
Be careful not to change other settings unless you are familiar with them.
Method 4: Contact Your Router Manufacturer
If you are still unsure, reach out to your router manufacturer or Internet service provider for assistance in confirming your Wi-Fi frequency.
Important Note
If your router has a feature such as Smart Connect, both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks may share the same Wi-Fi name (SSID). In this case, your camera will automatically connect to the 2.4GHz network.
