Keeping your camera's firmware up to date helps ensure the best performance, latest features, and security improvements. This guide walks you through how to check your current firmware version and whether an update is available.
How to Check Your Camera's Firmware Status
Follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Go to Firmware Settings
- Open the app on your phone.
- Tap the Camera Setting icon on the Home page.
- Tap the ">" icon to expand more options.
- Tap Firmware Update.
Step 2: Read the Firmware Status
After selecting Firmware Update, you'll see one of the following:
- "Firmware is already up to date" – Your camera is running the latest version.
- "Update Available" – A newer version is ready to install.
- Red dot indicator – This appears next to the firmware option when an update is needed.
What to Do If an Update Is Available
If the app shows that a new firmware version is available:
- Charge your camera or connect it to power (especially important for battery models).
- Make sure your Wi-Fi connection is stable.
- Do not exit the app or switch to other apps while updating.
- Tap Update and wait for the process to finish.
The system checks for firmware updates automatically and notifies you when one is available. Keeping your firmware current is an easy and important way to keep your camera working its best.
Important: Do Not Power Off or Reset During Update
To avoid damaging the device or causing the update to fail:
- Do not turn off the camera while the firmware update is in progress.
- Do not press the reset button (or reset hole/P button/P hole) during the update.
- For plug-in cameras, do not unplug the power cable until the update is complete.
- For battery-powered cameras, make sure the battery is sufficiently charged or the camera remains connected to power.
Interrupting the update process could lead to firmware corruption.
Tip: Consider Enabling Auto Update
To save time and always stay up to date, you can enable the Auto Update feature (if available on your device). When this setting is on, your camera will automatically install firmware updates when conditions are right—no manual checks needed. Follow the steps below:
- Open the app and go to the Home page
- Tap Camera Setting for the device you want to update
- Tap the ">" icon to enter Camera Info
- Tap Auto update and turn it on
