Applicable Models
This guide is for cameras with built-in rechargeable batteries, such as:
- Outdoor cameras
- 4G cameras
- Doorbell cameras
- Bird feeder cameras
Indoor and light bulb cameras are usually plug-in models and do not need to be charged. They work only when connected to a continuous power connection.
Why a Full Charge Matters
Before using your battery-powered camera for the first time, it is strongly recommended to fully charge the battery.
This initial full charge helps:
- Calibrate the battery
- Improve long-term battery health
- Ensure a smooth setup process
How to Charge Your Camera
- Use a certified 5V/1.5A charger and the original charging cable provided with your camera.
- Plug the charger into a stable power outlet.
- Connect the charging cable to the camera’s charging port.
- Place the camera in a cool, dry indoor area while charging.
Avoid using fast chargers (over 5V/2A), which may damage the battery or shorten its lifespan.
Charging Indicators
- Solid Amber / Orange /Yellow Light: Charging in progress
- Solid Green Light: Fully charged
Depending on the battery level and environment, a full charge may take 10 hours.
For best results during first-time use, allow a full 10 hours charge.
Planning to Use a Solar Panel?
If your camera is connected to a solar panel, please ensure the battery is fully charged beforehand.
Solar panels are designed to deliver trickle charging—which is ideal for maintaining battery levels—but they are not intended to charge a fully drained battery from 0%.
A fully charged battery ensures reliable startup and optimal solar charging performance.
Best Practices for First-Time Charging
- After the indicator turns green or the app shows 100%, you may continue charging for an extra 1–2 hours to improve initial battery conditioning.
- Always use certified accessories for safety and compatibility.
- Charge in environments between 0°C to 45°C (32°F to 113°F). Avoid extreme heat or cold.
