This article applies to battery-powered cameras only, including 4G cameras, bird feeder cameras, doorbell cameras, and outdoor Wi-Fi cameras.
If you're using a plug-in model such as an indoor camera or light bulb camera, it is normal for the device to power off when unplugged. These models rely on continuous power and do not have built-in batteries.
Step 1: Charge the Camera for Longer
- Use a certified 5V/1.5A charging adapter for optimal performance.
- Avoid charging in extreme temperatures. Recommended operating range: 0°C to 45°C (32°F to 113°F).
Step 2: Perform a Reset
Resetting the camera can help recalibrate the battery system.
- Disconnect the charger.
- Use the provided pin to press the P button/P hole.
Step 3: Check the Charging Setup
Charging issues may be caused by accessories or environment.
- Use a short charging cable (less than 5 meters / 16 feet).
- Inspect the charging port for dust or damage.
- Try using a different certified adapter and cable if available.
- Make sure the power source is stable.
Step 4: Reboot While Charging
- While charging, locate the reboot hole (P hole) near the power button (usually under a silicone flap).
- Use a pin or paperclip to press the reset hole gently.
- Wait for a startup chime or blue light as confirmation.
Step 5: Adjust Power Usage Settings
Battery life can be improved by optimizing usage:
- Set motion detection sensitivity to Low.
- Reduce the recording duration in settings.
- Enable Scheduled Sleep Mode during nighttime or low-activity hours.
- Limit use of live view streaming, which consumes more power.
