How do I enable or disable night vision?
You can easily manage your camera's night vision settings from the app:
- Open the app and go to the Home page
- Tap your camera's Settings icon
- Go to Video Settings
- Toggle Auto Night Vision on or off based on your preference
When night vision is enabled, you can choose from two modes:
- Black & White Mode: By using infrared light, the camera enhances image clarity in low-light or dark environments.
- Color Mode: By using white light, the camera captures colorful footage with more detail. The white light automatically turns on when motion is detected, allowing the camera to record color video at night.
How can I test if night vision is working properly?
To check if your camera's night vision feature is functioning:
- Cover the lens with your hand in a dark setting and listen for a soft "click" sound (this means the infrared is switching on)
- Look for a faint red glow near the lens — this is the infrared light activating
- Move your hand in front of the camera in low light to test motion-triggered white light (if using Color Mode)
How to adjust the light sensitivity
You can fine-tune the Light Sensitivity Level, which determines how sensitive the camera is to changes in ambient lighting when deciding whether to activate night vision.
To adjust this:
- Open your camera's Settings
- Go to Video Settings
- Find and adjust the Light Sensitivity Level
You'll see three options:
- Low: Night vision only activates in very dark conditions. Best for environments with ambient light.
- Medium (default): Balanced sensitivity for typical indoor/outdoor use.
- High: Night vision activates even in dim lighting. Ideal for indoor spaces or areas with minimal ambient light.
This setting helps the camera determine whether to use infrared (black & white) or white light (color mode) more or less aggressively based on lighting.
Currently, most models of cameras support both infrared mode and white light mode while a few models only support infrared mode. For those who do not support white light mode, there are no white lights on the camera body.
