What is the PIR detection range, and can it be adjusted?
The detection range varies depending on the detection sensitivity setting and the installation angle. The distances below are based on installing the camera at a tilt of 10–15°, which is the optimal angle for PIR motion detection.
Detection Ranges by Sensitivity Level:
- High Sensitivity: Up to 8 meters (26 feet)
- Medium Sensitivity: Up to 6 meters (19 feet)
- Low Sensitivity: Up to 4 meters (13 feet)
Note: Installing the camera at a different tilt angle may affect the actual detection distance.
How to Adjust Detection Range:
- Tap the camera "Settings" icon in your app
- Go to "Motion Detection"
- Tap "Detection Sensitivity"
- Choose High, Medium, or Low based on your needs
Optimal Detection Performance:
The motion detector performs most effectively for movements within 5 to 20 feet (1.5 to 6 meters) from the camera. The maximum monitoring distance at high sensitivity is typically 8-10 meters under ideal conditions.
Important Notes:
- Higher sensitivity = longer detection range, but more false triggers
- Lower sensitivity = shorter detection range but fewer false triggers
- The PIR sensor is more sensitive to movements across the camera's field of view rather than movements toward or away from the camera
