If someone presses your doorbell but the app cannot load the live video (shows “Connecting…” or “Unable to connect”), the issue is usually related to Wi-Fi signal, home internet, or phone network settings.
1. Check if the Doorbell Camera Is Online
- Open the app and confirm the camera does not show “Offline.”
- Make sure the camera has sufficient battery.
- If the device reboots or loses power, the live view will not load.
2. Weak Wi-Fi Signal at the Doorbell
- Live video requires a stable Wi-Fi connection. A weak signal often causes loading failures.
- Fixes: move the router closer, avoid metal doors/walls, use a Wi-Fi extender, and ensure the camera is on 2.4GHz.
3. Home Internet Issues
- Even if your Wi-Fi signal is strong, the camera still needs a stable internet connection to send the video to your phone.
- Fixes: test your home internet on another device, restart your router/modem, reduce network congestion (downloads/streaming).
4. Phone Network or Settings Blocking the Connection
- If live view works at home but not when you're away, check your phone.
- Possible issues: VPN, proxy, Private DNS, ad blockers, unstable mobile data.
- Fixes: disable VPN/proxy, turn off Private DNS, reopen the app, and ensure a strong 4G/5G signal.
5. App Restrictions or Background Limits
- Sometimes the phone may not receive notifications when the doorbell is pressed.
- Fixes: allow background activity, disable battery optimisation, force-close and reopen the app.
