In some cases, a cloud recording may end while motion is still visible in the video. For example, a clip may last only a few seconds even though a person, pet, bird, or object is still present in front of the camera.
How It Works
VicoHome cameras use a PIR (Passive Infrared) sensor to detect motion and trigger video recording. The PIR sensor responds to changes in infrared energy emitted by warm objects, such as humans or animals. A recording automatically stops when the PIR sensor no longer detects significant infrared variation, which indicates that active motion has ended.
As a result, if movement becomes slow, subtle, or partially obstructed, the system may interpret it as the end of motion and stop recording, even though the object is still in view.
Possible Causes
- Low or slow motion intensity: Motion that is too subtle may not trigger continuous detection.
- Environmental interference: Reflections, sunlight shifts, or temperature fluctuations may affect PIR readings.
- Unstable Wi-Fi connection: A poor or unstable network does not cause the device to stop recording early. However, it may prevent the recorded video from being fully uploaded to the cloud server, resulting in incomplete or partially displayed clips in the app’s gallery.
- Cloud Cooldown setting enabled: When Cloud Cooldown is active, the camera waits a preset time after a clip ends before starting a new one, resulting in short gaps between recordings. If a clip reaches the maximum duration allowed by your cloud recording settings, the camera will stop recording even if motion continues. It will not resume until the cooldown period ends and a new motion event is triggered.
Recommended Solutions
- Verify the Cloud Cooldown setting
- Open the app → "Camera Setting" → "Motion Detection" → "Recording Setting" → check whether "Cloud Cooldown" is enabled.
- To record more continuously, disable or shorten the cooldown period.
- Extend the cloud recording duration
- Go to Open the app → "Camera Setting" → "Motion Detection" → "Recording Setting" → "Cloud Recording Duration" and select a longer duration. This helps ensure recordings do not stop too early, allowing the camera to capture more footage even if motion is still ongoing.
- Check network stability
- Ensure that the camera maintains a strong Wi-Fi connection (signal strength ≥ 80%).
- Adjust camera position and environment
- Avoid pointing the camera toward heat sources, reflective surfaces, or direct sunlight.
- Update device firmware and app
- Use the latest firmware and VicoHome app version to benefit from ongoing detection and performance improvements.
Additional Notes
If recordings continue to stop too early, tap “Send Feedback” on the affected video in the app to submit a sample clip. After submitting feedback, please inform us through the Feedback section, so our technical team can provide further assistance.
