If the app displays an error code when you’re trying to pair your device, follow the steps below to check your network, Wi-Fi, and connection settings. Each code corresponds to a specific type of issue and can often be resolved with a few simple adjustments.
If You See Code 6, Code 7, Code 8, or Code 9 During Setup
Related issues:
- Code 6: Wi-Fi authentication failed
- Code 7: DHCP failure
- Code 8: Device failed to connect to Wi-Fi
- Code 9: Server connection timeout
These errors usually occur when your router or Wi-Fi settings prevent the camera from connecting properly.
Check Your Router and Network Settings
Log in to your home router’s management interface and verify the following:
- DHCP function: Make sure DHCP is turned on so the router can automatically assign IP addresses.
- Address pool availability: Confirm that the DHCP address pool still has available IPs. If too many devices are connected, new ones may not get an address.
- Firewall and Security Settings
- Security / Firewall: Log in to your router’s management platform and navigate to the Security or Firewall settings. If the firewall is enabled, temporarily turn it off to allow the camera to connect.
- Wi-Fi Advanced Settings: Go to your Wi-Fi advanced options and disable the MAC address filtering feature, or set it to Allow all devices.
- Security Policies: Temporarily turn off any advanced security policies or protection modes that could prevent the camera from accessing the network.
- If you’re unsure: If you’re not familiar with these settings, restart the router and try the pairing process again.AND please provide the name of your internet service provider and the brand of your router for our reference.
- Wi-Fi configuration:
- Wi-Fi Band: Confirm that the camera is connecting to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Most cameras do not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
- Authentication Method: Make sure your Wi-Fi uses WPA2 or WPA security. The camera does not support WPA3 or WPA2-Enterprise authentication types.
- SSID and Password: Verify that your Wi-Fi password is entered correctly. Avoid using special characters or overly long SSID names, as these may prevent the device from connecting.
Restart Your Devices
- Restart the router: Turn off its power, wait 30 seconds, then power it back on.
- Restart the camera: Turn the device off, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on to re-enter pairing mode. When the device will emit a continuous dingdong sound.
- Check app permissions: On your phone, make sure the app has permission to access Wi-Fi, Location, and Bluetooth. And make sure that both Bluetooth and the network switch on your phone are turned on.
- Pairing distance: Keep the phone and the camera close to the router (within 1–2 meters) to ensure a stable signal.
Try Another Network
If the steps above don’t resolve the issue, try pairing your camera using another available network.
- Switch to another Wi-Fi network: If possible, use a different Wi-Fi network to test the connection.
- Use a mobile hotspot temporarily:
- Enable your phone’s personal hotspot while using mobile data.
- Set a simple hotspot name and password using only letters and numbers (avoid special characters).
- Connect the camera to this hotspot and try pairing again.
- If the camera successfully pairs with the hotspot, open the app to check for any firmware or app updates.
- After completing updates, reconnect the camera to your original Wi-Fi network and repeat the setup.
- Special note for iPhone users:
- Go to Settings > Personal Hotspot, then turn on Maximize Compatibility.
- This mode improves compatibility with certain low-power cameras that may otherwise fail to detect the hotspot signal or report an “SSID not found” error.
If You See Code 4 or Code 5 in the App
Related issues:
- Code 4: Wi-Fi SSID not found
- Code 5: Wi-Fi password error
These errors happen when the camera cannot detect your Wi-Fi network or the password entered is invalid.
Confirm Wi-Fi Requirements
- Wi-Fi band:
- Confirm that the camera is connecting to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Most cameras do not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
- Ensure your router hasn’t enabled SSID hiding or similar settings that keep the network name invisible.
- SSID and Password Settings:
- Simplify your Wi-Fi name and password. If possible — use only letters or numbers.
- Avoid spaces or special symbols such as @, #, $, %, or similar.
- Keep the password between 8 – 10 characters for best compatibility.
Check Your Phone and Camera Setup Mode
Make sure both your phone and the camera are ready for pairing.
- Turn on required phone features:
- Enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your phone.
- For Android devices, confirm that the app has been granted Location permission, which is required to scan nearby Wi-Fi networks.
- Confirm that the camera is in pairing mode:
- For battery-powered cameras: A flashing blue indicator light and a continuous “ding-dong” sound mean the device is in pairing mode.
- For plug-in cameras: A continuous “ding-dong” sound (even without a blinking light) also indicates pairing mode.
- If not in pairing mode:
- Battery-powered: double-press the power button after powering on.
- Plug-in: hold the reset button for 5 seconds to re-enter pairing mode.
Restart Your Devices and Improve the Network Environment
- Restart the devices:
- Restart the camera and the router one after another.
- Wait until the network connection becomes stable, then try pairing the device again.
- Check Wi-Fi signal quality:
- During setup, keep the camera within 1–2 meters (3–6 feet) of the router.
- Avoid walls, metal surfaces, or other obstructions that may weaken the signal.
- Check your phone’s network connection:
- Before pairing, make sure your phone is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network and can access the Internet.
- For example, try refreshing another section in the app — such as the User page — to confirm the connection is working properly.
Provide Error Information for Further Assistance
If pairing still fails, share additional information :
- Device voice prompts:
- Does the camera play any voice messages?
- Note down what it says — for example, “Wi-Fi connection failed” or “SSID not found.”
- App notifications:
- Check whether the app shows an error message or a specific error code (for example, Code 4).
- Screenshots or video:
- Take a screenshot of the error message that appears during setup
- Record a short video showing the full pairing process up to the point where the error occurs. This helps our technical team identify exactly when and how the issue appears.
If You See Code 400 or Code 404 While Pairing
Related issues:
- Code 400: Device connection failed
- Code 404: Bluetooth connection failed
These usually indicate a temporary pairing interruption or a Bluetooth communication issue between your phone and the device.
Restart the Device and App, and Confirm Pairing Mode
Before pairing again, make sure the camera has entered pairing mode correctly and the app is running in its latest version.
- Confirm pairing mode:
- For battery-powered cameras: A flashing blue indicator light and a continuous “ding-dong” sound mean the camera is in pairing mode.
